Sunshine and shiny medals at the under-23 champs
Under-23 World Champion titles were for the taking today at the 2014 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Varese, Italy.
After a 40 minute delay to clear the course of weed, the A-finals began. The sun came out, the water became absolutely flat and the wind died to barely a whisper for these late afternoon finals as a new star duo was born. Usually World Best Times are set in tail-wind conditions. Not today. In the women's pair Kerri Gowler and Grace Prendergast did it by absolutely dominating their race. The new time: 7:02.89. Russia's women's quadruple sculls got close to setting a Best Time and so did France in the lightweight men's quadruple sculls.
