AIRO26 Brings Indoor Rowing to Rowers Everywhere

Nine days. Eight events. One Concept2 RowErg. The Australian Indoor Rowing Open is inviting rowers around the world to compete wherever they are.

The Australian Indoor Rowing Open (AIRO26) will bring indoor rowers together from 24 October to 1 November 2026, with athletes able to take part from virtually anywhere in the world.

Organized by Row Nation in partnership with the Australian Rowing Federation, AIRO26 is designed as a fully remote competition, allowing participants to race on any Concept2 RowErg at their local club, gym or home.

Results can be submitted simply by photographing the RowErg monitor or directly through the Row Nation app, giving athletes nine days to take on a wide range of challenges and events.

The programme features four core distances – the Power Minute, Sprint 500m, Kilo 1000m and Olympic Distance 2000m – alongside three challenges: 4-Minute Endurance, The Six and Calorie Ladder.

There are also two team events: the AIRC Sprint Relay and the AIRO 10K Team Relay.

One entry provides access to the full programme, with unlimited attempts throughout the nine-day competition.

Australian Titles Decided Inside AIRO26

The event will also serve as the setting for the 2026 Australian Indoor Rowing Championships (AIRC26).

The national championships will be decided across the four core events and the AIRC Sprint Relay, giving Australian athletes the opportunity to compete for national honours as part of the wider open event.

AIRO26 is open to a broad range of participants, from U14 juniors through to Masters, with lightweight and para categories also included. Age- and gender-adjusted scoring is used to allow athletes across different categories to compete on an inclusive basis.

With no single venue required, AIRO26 offers a different approach to indoor competition – connecting athletes through the same events and scoring system while allowing them to compete from wherever they are.

AIRO26 takes place from 24 October to 1 November 2026.
