Women's Quadruple Sculls (W4x) - Final

At first the Netherlands had a bit of the upper hand. But as the Dutch started to run out of push, Canada took over. The Canadians were fourth in Aiguebelette and have been training in Europe since that June regatta.

With Germany now clearly in the lead, Canada and New Zealand held their own race for silver. Bronze medallists from Aiguebelette, New Zealand, did not quite have the same push today. At the line Canada got into the brighter medals. New Zealand earned the bronze and Germany had another gold.

Gold – THIELE, Annekatrin (GER)

We felt pressured to win but we raced our own race and I think we had it under control. Germany is strong in this boat because we are strong individually but we work together as a team.

Silver – VON SEYDLITZ-KURZBACH, Antje (CAN)

We are definitely proud to be representing our country and the maple leaf out there. The team hasn’t officially been decided but we sure hope we get nominated for Amsterdam.

B-Final

Since the World Rowing Cup in Aiguebelette, the standard has stepped up and Great Britain One found themselves missing out on the A-final by one second after yesterday’s repechage. Great Britain’s Stiller, Carnegie-Brown, Meyer-Laker and Rodford absolutely dominated this B-final and crossed the line to enthusiastic support from the British in the crowd.
