The 2014 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, the Netherlands begins on Sunday 24 August and there is potential for a change in the racing format due to weather predictions.

The forecast for Sunday is for cross-tail wind conditions with wind gusts. This has caused the World Rowing Federation, FISA, to reconsider the racing schedule to make for as fair racing as possible for all crews. The reconsideration may include the potential for time trials.

The decision on whether the race schedule will be altered is to be made by 11:00 CET on Sunday, 24 August, with racing due to start at 13:00 CET. This will be communicated through the World Rowing website and through social media channels.

Time trials means that boats will race one at a time over the 2000m regatta course with a 30 second gap between each boat. This method allows for crews to race in near identical conditions. Two lanes will be used for the time trials.
