Jeannine Gmelin , Switzerland, gold
“I feel pretty good, I am happy with how the race went. The game is changing now, with some people retiring and some not here. I am a little bit curious to see how the rest of the season will go.”

Victoria Thornley , Great Britain, silver

“I am really pleased with that result as it is really early in the season. The race went to plan. The last 250m were really close between me and Magdalena. I just believed in the process.”

Magdalena Lobnig , Austria, bronze
“I am very happy, I was recently very ill. I lost three weeks in my training and started again one week ago, so I am very satisfied about today. I am looking forward to getting back to normal training and looking forward to the European Championships to defend my title.”

B-Final

A fast start by the Czech Republic was soon overhauled by Spain’s Virginia Diaz Rivas. Then Tatsiana Kukhta of Belarus Two got into the lead with Diaz Rivas trying to hold on. Then Belarus Three came through taking it to a photo finish. It was just 0.02 of a second between the two Belarus boats. Kukhta got there first.
