A-Finals

From Friday’s time trials it looked like Germany would be the crew to beat and they had the favoured lane. Germany are the 2019 European Champions and they were one lane over from the reigning World Champions, Poland. Germany went out the quickest and moved into a slight lead. The Germans then pushed away to a boat length lead with Poland ahead of Australia.

The Australians sat in third but they had to keep an eye on Great Britain who was trying to get into that bronze medal spot. Poland went to 34 to break clear of Australia and move up on Germany. With every stroke Poland was gaining. Would they have enough water to catch Germany? Then Germany went to 36 to hold off Poland. Germany was at 37 and Poland went to 37. Germany held them off to win gold.

Results: GER, POL, AUS, GBR, NED1, USA
