Although Canada had the lead at the start, by the middle of the race China One of Zhang, Guo, Yi and Zhang had pushed ahead. Once in the lead China One was able to push away from the Canadians and take the win with relative ease. Meanwhile Canada found themselves being challenged by China Two and had to rate 40 at the finish to stay ahead of their competitors. Canada will race again later in the day in the women’s eight final.
