The World Rowing Federation, FISA, welcomes the decision announced today by Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike to confirm that the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Rowing and Canoe/Kayak Regattas will take place on the new Sea Forest Water Sports venue in Tokyo. This decision was based on the recommendation of the four-party working group after a thorough analysis of different options.

‘’This is good news for the athletes, who will get the best Olympic experience at the core of the Games and, as importantly, for the legacy of the sport of rowing in Tokyo and Japan,’’ said FISA President Jean-Christophe Rolland.

FISA will continue to provide full support and experience to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo2020 Organising Committee to limit the costs for the construction of the Sea Forest Water Sports Centre and, at the same time, deliver a sustainable legacy for the people of Tokyo.
