The venue of the London 2012 Olympic Rowing Regatta will welcome international rowers again from 21 to 23 June 2013. The decision was made at the FISA Congress held last week in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

"After the success of the London 2012 Olympic Regatta and the incredible support for our sport shown by the British public, we are very pleased to return to Eton Dorney for the second regatta of the 2013 Samsung World Rowing Cup series," said FISA President Denis Oswald. "We share the objective of British Rowing and the UK Government to ensure a sporting legacy from those Games and are confident that the substantial investment in Eton Dorney's infrastructure and race organisation will be of tremendous benefit to future World Rowing regattas."

The Eton Dorney Regatta Course, which is the home of rowing for Great Britain's Eton College, last hosted a World Rowing Cup in 2005 and then went on to host the 2006 World Rowing Championships and 2011 World Rowing Junior Championships. This popular course is also used for local regattas and for British team trials.

FISA also confirmed that British Rowing would have the option of hosting the World Rowing Cup again in 2015.

British Rowing Chairman Di Ellis noted that the crowds at the Eton Dorney Olympic rowing regatta had exceeded expectations and she hopes that the World Rowing Cup event will likewise see packed crowds. "Hosting a World Cup in 2013 at Eton Dorney will give rowing the perfect opportunity to rekindle the magical atmosphere we enjoyed at the Olympic Games," she said.

The first stage of the 2013 Samsung World Rowing Cup will be staged in Sydney, Australia from 22 to 24 March 2013. The final stage will take place in Lucerne, Switzerland from 12 to 14 July 2013.
