France had the best race in the test race earlier in the week and they started the fastest today. But Diana Barcelos De Oliveira and Jairo Klug of Brazil was sticking with Antoine Jesel and Guylaine Marchand of France. The Brazilians got themselves in the lead going through the middle of the race and never looked back. France held on to second with Germany not far back in third. This is a non-Paralympic boat class and has been building up over recent years. At the finish Barcelos De Oliveira and Klug had set a new World Best Time by a full 20 seconds. Recording 7:28.95 this also gave them a new World Championship Best Time.

Results: BRA, FRA, GER, AUT, USA, MEX

Jairo Klug (s), Brazil, gold
“Really good race. We’ve only trained in this boat six times together, so we’re really happy to win.”

Valentin Luz (s), Germany, bronze
“It wasn’t 100 per cent what we could do in our training but I believe we can be happy with our result.”
