A-Final

First up at the second world cup were the para-rowers in the PR2 women’s single sculls. This is a new boatclass that was introduced for the 2018 season. Two scullers lined up, Annika van der Meer from the Netherlands and Perle Bouge from France. Bouge competed in the para mixed double sculls for many years, earning a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics and a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Van der Meer is reigning World Champion in the mixed double sculls.

Off the line, Van der Meer got the fast start just edging her bow in front of Bouge, but she wasn’t able to hold it for long. Bouge settled into her race pace and moved out ahead. There was no stopping her. Bouge took the first gold medal of the event.
