A-final

Annika van der Meer and Corné de Koning from the Netherlands both raced in the PR2 single sculls and picked up a silver and a gold medal respectively. Now, they’re back on the water in the PR2 mixed double sculls and they are leading the field 750m into the race.

Sitting in second is the Brazilian crew of Josiane Lima and Michel Gomes Pessanha. This Brazilian duo have a handful of medals and quite some experience under their belt. They have to hold off Poland who upped their rate to attempt a challenge. The order remained the same through the line, the Netherlands with a handy lead over Brazil and Poland.

Results: NED, BRA, POL, UKR

Corne De Koning (s), Netherlands, gold
“That hurt a little as it was my second race today, however I felt in control and still had a good connection to the water. There was a little cross wind in the middle but it felt good. Plovdiv is our next race.”

Josiane Lima (b), Brazil, silver
“The race was very hard, we have great competition as they are all great athletes and they are champions in many different races. It was an honour to represent our country and an honour to race our opponents and to be at this event.”

Michal Gadowski (b), Poland, bronze
“The time trial wasn’t a good option for us but we are very happy with our result even though it was a very tough race. Our next race will be the World Rowing Championships.”
