Nico Stahlberg, Switzerland, gold
“The goal was to deliver well as I did in the previous races. I did a very good middle section of the race and then I was able to hold it in the end. Now I am training in the single sculls, some parts are harder and some better, but you have to keep motivated. I have good coaching to push me with that.”

Damir Martin, Croatia, silver
“If it was the final race of the season, I wouldn’t be satisfied. Anyway, I am not satisfied. I am very disappointed in the part of the race from 1250 to 1750, it wasn’t as good as expected. I had to do more for the sprint. I finished very hard, but it wasn’t enough because of the bad middle. (Plan for the future) – keep on working!”

B-Final

As in the heats John Graves of the United States led at the start. Graves is part of a rowing family that has seen two of his brothers race internationally. Graves is the sole American representative at this regatta. Peter Lambert of Great Britain chased Graves and coming into the final sprint the two were practically neck-and-neck. But then Olympian Aleksandar Aleksandrov of Azerbaijan went for it and got to the line first.
