Spain and Great Britain had shown the best results coming into today’s final and at the start it was the World Champions, Sam Scrimgeour and Joel Cassells from Great Britain leading the way. They were chased hard by Denmark’s Emil Espensen and Jens Vilhelmsen. But by the middle of the race Scrimgeour and Cassells had made a break. It would take a big effort by Denmark to catch them. Then Spain started to open up and they overtook Denmark. Espensen and Vilhelmsen fought back and in the process closed a little on the leading British. Scrimgeour and Cassells remained in control to become 2016 European Champions.

B-final

This two-boat race went the way of Switzerland after they led from start to finish. This is a turnaround as Switzerland was beaten by Poland in yesterday’s repechage. Switzerland did not let up right through to the finish.
