The Regatta will be held on the famous ‘Oresund’, a 4 kilometer wide gateway to the Baltic Sea. The City of Helsingborg has one of the longest serving ferry ports in the world. Helsingborg is also known for its beautiful white sandy beaches and clean waters.

Over 450 of the best coastal rowers from all over the world will test their endurance and sea skills during three days of action. The crews will race on and off the beaches, navigate tight buoy turns and cope with challenging  sea conditions to reveal who will be crowned champions. There are three classes of coastal rowing boats:  solo (C1x), double (C2x) and quadruple (C4x+) with individual races for men and women.

The 2013 World Rowing Coastal Championships will be held from 16 to 18 August 2013  to take full advantage of the northern European summer. About “World Rowing”: World Rowing is the communications name of FISA, “Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d’Aviron” in French, or the English equivalent International Federation of Rowing Associations which is the governing body of the sport of rowing. It is empowered by its 136 member National Rowing Federations, the National Olympic Committees and the International Olympic Committee to govern the sport of rowing.

FISA sets the rules and regulations for the practice of the sport, in all its forms (elite, adaptive, coastal and indoor), and organises sanctioned World Rowing events. It also provides advice and expertise for the organisation of rowing regattas, on coaching education and other matters relating to the sport and its development.
