In the under-23 lightweight women’s event, Marieke Keijser of the Netherlands improved her personal best and set a new Dutch record in her category. She had set it at 07:05.2 This year she improved it to 07:04.8. Keijser is the junior and under-23 World Champion in the lightweight women’s single sculls. She also won silver at the senior World Rowing Championships this year, aged just 20 years old.

Jacob van de Kerkhof from the Netherlands won the open men’s 2000m in a time of 05:57.5. This year, the 22-year-old finished fourth as part of the Dutch men’s four at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships.

For the lightweight men, Austria’s Matthias Taborsky clocked the fastest time at 06:09.1. He was followed by Martino Goretti, from Italy, who finished a little over four seconds later at 06:13.8. Goretti competed internationally this year in the lightweight men’s quadruple sculls and lightweight men’s four, winning World Cup gold and European Championship silver, respectively.

In the open women’s event, Dutch rower Lisanne Brandsma finished first in a time of 06:42.6. Brandsma won European Championship bronze this year as part of the women’s four and finished fourth in the women’s eight at the 2017 World Rowing Cup III in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Finishing second in the open women’s event was Jose van Veen, also from the Netherlands, clocked 06:43.6. Van Veen doubled up in the women’s four and women’s pair or women’s eight at several World Rowing regattas in 2017. At this year’s World Rowing Championships, she finished sixth in the eight and fifth in the four, while at World Rowing Cup III in Lucerne, she finished fourth in both the women’s eight and the four. At World Rowing Cup I in Belgrade at the start of the 2017 season, van Veen won gold in the four and silver in the pair. Dutch rower Karolien Florijn, a World Under-23 and World Junior Champion, finished fourth.

In the open lightweight women’s event, it was Olympic Champion and World Best Time holder in the lightweight women’s double sculls, Ilse Paulis from the Netherlands, who took first in a time of 07:11.8. Coming in second at 07:17.2 was Dutch sculler Amber Kraak, the 2016 under-23 World Champion in the lightweight women’s double sculls.
