**Race Times on Sunday, 28 July 2013 slightly advanced**
Based on the most recent official weather forecast for Sunday, 28 July 2013, race times have been slightly advanced. The heat and humidity forecast starting from 13:00 hrs on Sunday would place the competitors at the regatta in the high risk zone for heat stress (dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke).
The new times will have the Finals B starting at 09:00 hrs, as planned, but will proceed on 5 minutes intervals until 09:55 hrs. Finals A will now start at 10:05 hrs instead of 10:30 hrs, and the last final will start at 12:41 hrs. The regatta will therefore finish before reaching the hottest part of the day.
Please note these changes for Sunday, 28 July 2013:
Finals B start at 09:00 hrs
The last Final B will start at 09:55 hrs
The first Final A will start at 10:05 hrs
The final Final A will start at 12:41 hrs

After the flood: Regatta venue will be ready for the U23 Championships
At the beginning of June, Austria was hit by a once-in-a-hundred-years flood. Therefore, the regatta venue of the 2013 World Rowing U23 Championships faced enormous damages. Seven weeks before the big sport event, the whole venue was under water. Furthermore: 267.000 cubic meters of mud blocked the regatta course and raised questions about sufficient water depth.
Championships saved by politics and volunteers
With the help of several volunteers and the local fire brigades, a big part of the venue has already been cleaned up and the restoration works are in progress. Within a record-breaking time of less than 24 hours after the whole extent of the flood damage had been revealed, the government of Upper Austria decided to cover the additional costs for the excavation and repair works – approximately 500.000 Euros.
Clean up Operations are underway
The clean up operations are currently under way and will be finished by the 14th of July, thus the 2013 World Rowing U23 Championships can take place as planned. “We are happy that despite such a disaster we are able to conduct the Championships without any problems”, says the head of the Organising Committee Gerhard Wildmoser.
Photos of the course can be found here.
World Rowing Championships are open to all member federations. A rower may compete in an Under 23 rowing event until 31st of December of the year in which he reaches the age of 22.
