  • Eligibility

World Rowing Championships are open to all member federations. A rower may compete in a Junior rowing event until 31st of December of the year in which he reaches the age of 18.

  • 2014 Youth Olympic Games Qualification

The 2013 World Rowing Junior Championships will serve as the main opportunity for performance-based qualification for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.

It is the NOC that qualifies the places, not the actual athletes who participate in the event. The NOC may therefore enter different rowers in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games from those that qualified the crew at the 2013 World Rowing Junior Championships.

Additionally, there will be three Continental Qualification Regattas (Asia, Africa and Latin America).

Visit World Rowing's dedicated 2014 Youth Olympic Games event page for details on the event.

Information on the qualification system for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games can be found here:

  • Rowing in Lithuania

There is a long tradition of rowing in Lithuania. Rowing was first practiced in Klaipeda in 1885 which then spread to other parts of the country. In Trakai rowing competitions have been organised on a yearly basis since 1928. In 1962 the Ambers Oars Regatta was organized after the Vilnius men’s eight won in a USA regatta and wanted to attract the attention of rowers from all over the world. The Lithuania Rowing Federation joined FISA in 1991.

  • About the Regatta Venue

Held on Trakai’s Galve Lake, this popular rowing spot was the venue of the 2002 World Rowing Junior Championships, 2006 FISU World Student Championships and 2008 FISA World Masters Regatta. It is known for its picturesque island castle near the finish line. The venue is also the home of the International Amber Oars Regatta. The lake is 2000m and 87.5m wide.
