    The following events are offered at the Uder 23 World Rowing Championships:

     

    Under 23 Men (BM) 1x, 2x, 2-, 4x, 4-, 8+, 4+

    Under 23 Women (BW) 1x, 2x, 2-, 4x, 4-, 8+

    Under 23 Lightweight Men (BLM) 1x, 2x, 2-, 4x, 4-

    Under 23 Lightweight Women (BLW) 1x, 2x, 4x

  • Eligibility

    World Rowing Championships are open to all member federations. A rower may compete in an Under 23 rowing event until 31st of December of the year in which he reaches the age of 22.

  • About Trakai

    Trakai is a historic city which lies 28km west of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. There are approximately 5.4 thousand inhabitants (2008 est.). Trakai District is one of the most beautiful and historically interesting regions in Lithuania. The town of Trakai was first mentioned in German history in 1337, which is regarded to be the official date of its foundation. There are over 200 lakes in the region of which Galve is the deepest and has 21 islands.

  • About the Regatta Venue

    Held at Trakai’s Lake Galve, this popular rowing spot was the venue of the 2002 World Rowing Junior Championships, 2006 FISU World Student Championships and 2008 FISA World Masters Regatta. It is known for its picturesque island castle right by the finish line. The venue is also the home of the international Amber Oars Regatta and it was a popular training venue before 1991 for Soviet Union athletes. The lake is 2000m and 87.5m wide.

  • Rowing in Lithuania

    There is a long tradition of rowing in Lithuania. Rowing was first practices in Klaipeda in 1885 which then spread to other parts of the country. In Trakai rowing competitions have been organised on a yearly basis since 1928. In 1962 the Ambers Oars Regatta was organized after the Vilnius men’s eight won in a USA regatta and wanted to attract the attention of rowers all over the world. The Lithuania Rowing Federation joined FISA in 1991.
