    The following events are offered at the Samsung World Rowing Cup:

    Olympic Events:

    International Events:

  • Eligibility

    Samsung World Rowing Cup regattas shall be open to all competitors who are authorized to compete by their member federation and who are eligible under the relevant rules. To represent a country in a World Rowing Championship, a competitor shall be a citizen of that country, He must be able to prove this by showing an official document (passport or identity card). In exceptional cases, the Executive Committee may make exceptions. National Federation may enter up to two crews in each event of a World Rowing Cup final regatta and no more than three crews in each event at the other World Cup regattas.

  • About Lucerne

    Lucerne is located in the north-central Switzerland along the shores of lake Lucerne. Lucerne is the capital of the Canton of Lucerne. One of the city’s famous landmark is the ‘Kapellbrücke’ (the Chapel Bridge), a 204 m long wooden bridge built in 1333, although a large amount had to be rebuilt in 1993 after a fire. Switzerland has a population of 7,639,961 (July 2011 est.). The Canton of Lucerne has approximately 363,000 inhabitants of which 60,000 live in the city of Lucerne.

  • Rowing in Switzerland

    The Swiss Rowing Federation (SRV-FSSA-FSSC) was founded on the 5 December 1886 and is the governing body of rowing clubs, regional associations in Switzerland. There are 75 rowing clubs in Switzerland.

  • About the regatta course

    The waters of the Rotsee are ideal for competitive rowing. The lake's size and shape enable Olympic-style six-line racing over 2000 meters; its geographical position makes the course arguably the fairest in the world. At the same time, the Rotsee is also a Nature Reserve with a rich variety of flora and fauna. Its shores are a year-round recreational area for large numbers of local residents. The first Swiss National Championships were held on the Rotsee in 1933. It then hosted the European Championships in 1934. FISA inaugural World Championships were held in 1962. Since 1997 Lucerne has hosted the World Cup annually with the exception of 2001 where it hosted the World Championships.
