The eight, sometimes considered the king in the world of rowing, is being honoured. The French Rowing Federation has declared this Sunday, 19 November as the national day of the eight.

“This is the occasion to have a great number of people discover a team spirit and a welcoming spirit that is around this discipline,” says the federation press release.

In its fourth year as a national day, the eight will be promoted in 15 places around France with the aim of showing the value of teamwork through rowing to both current rowers and the general public.

The 15 organisations involved will initiate people into eights rowing with demonstrations and competitions. These organisations include:
Avignon, Avon (Fontainebleau), Canteleu Croisset (Haute Normandie), Melun, Mulhouse, Nancy, Provide, Olivet (Orléans), Port
Sainte-Foy (Gironde), Rennes, Saintes, Villefranche-sur-Saône.
