Quotes from Athletes

21 May 2014 Aurimas Adomavicius
We are super happy because we will hear the Lithuanian anthem for the first time here at this event. Even though all our fans believed in us we didn’t expect to win.

Aurimas Adomavicius

Rising Star - August 2014

Lithuania’s Aurimas Adomavicius is just 20 years old and yet already has two World Rowing under-23 medals to his name. A sculler, Adomavicius won a gold and a silver in the men’s double sculls. Standing 2m tall, he is part of Lithuania’s ever growing pool of promising rowing talents.

I row because...  I love being in nature and I love the adrenaline during the race.

My non-rowing friends think...  My friends are sometimes angry because I don’t have enough time to hang out and spend time with them, but they are happy because of the success that I am having in rowing.

My sporting idol is... I don’t have any idol, I am the idol for myself.

I'm motivated by… competition and the feeling of winning.

In ten years’ time... I will graduate from university, have a family and still keep on rowing.

If I could pick my dream crew it would include... a quad with the best rowers in Lithuania.

Before a race, I always... concentrate on the competition and do everything that I learned during season training.

First 20 strokes or final 250m?  For sure the final 250m because the first 20 strokes don’t mean a lot, I cannot see anything at the start because I am too concentrated on my rowing technique. The final 250m are very important because they show which crew is the fastest.

If I could have one super power it would be... to never get tired.

My biggest strength is... I’m always motivated to row to the best of my abilities.

My favourite food is...  sushi, pasta and chicken.

2k or 5k on the erg?  5k because in my opinion it is a more efficient way for me.

I would love to row in... the Olympics and win a medal.

My toughest race... the 2014 World Rowing Under 23 Championships, the last 500 meters.
