Quotes from Athletes

21 May 2014 Emma Fredh
It was a very good race from the beginning. It was an easy race for us as the wind helped a lot. It felt like we were flying. During our third quarter we felt was strongest. I caught my blade on a weed which affected our balance and rhythm slightly
21 May 2014 Emma Fred
It was really hard because there was cross wind blowing so I had to push harder with the left side. I caught a crab at 500m and I nearly stopped! I am happy I made it!

Emma FREDH Interview

Rising Star - November 2013

Ever since Emma Fredh made the Swedish junior national team six years she hasn't stopped. Now a member of Sweden's senior squad, after taking silver at last year's World Rowing Under 23 Championships in the lightweight women's single sculls, Fredh raced in the lightweight women's double sculls at this year's World Rowing Championships in Chungju, Korea.

Fredh got into rowing as a 14-year-old. She was an avid cross country skiier in the winter months and wanted to do more than just running and roller skiing in the summer. A friend introduced her to the sport. "Slowly but surely," says Fredh, "I became more and more interested in rowing and after a few years I quit skiing."
Fredh now balances rowing with her tertiary studies in organisation and staff development.

My sporting hero is … I do not have any sporting hero but I´m very impressed by people who believe in themselves and manage to achieve the high goals that they have set and worked for a long time, both in sports and business world.

On the erg I listen to … All kinds of music.

My least favourite training session is … Long slow distance on the erg.

My favourite training session is … I like the feeling when I have to work hard and challenge myself with tough intervals.

In 10 years time I will … be World Champion.

My toughest race ....Was the final at the Olympic qualification regatta last year. We were not rowing so good and it felt like we were never going to reach the finish line.

I'm motivated by … The idea of constantly trying to improve myself.

I get annoyed when … I don´t live up to my own expectations.

2k or 5k on the ergo? 2k, as much suffering as the 5k but for a shorter time.

Non-rowing friends think … it's crazy that you have to train as much as we do to be successful.

I'm most relaxed when … I´m home, lying on the couch after a good session.
