Swiss rowing athlete Mario Gyr rowed a newly designed Stämpfli single scull through a red ribbon on the Limmat River to mark the opening of the regatta.

In Switzerland, a one-hour highlights programme of the finals will be broadcast nationwide on Star TV on Sunday 30 September from 16-17hrs CST;  Switzerland’s  national sports channel – Schweizer Sport Fernsehen (SSF) – will show the programme on Monday 1 October (19-20hrs CST), Tuesday 2 October (20-21hrs CST) and Wednesday 3 October (17-18hrs CST).

Top international crews from Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany and the Czech Republic will compete in different boat classes over a 450m distance on Saturday 29 September, starting at 13h CST. They will be joined by men’s and women’s eights from the universities of Zurich and St. Petersburg as well as the Swiss Federal Institutes of Zurich and Lausanne and inter-Swiss City crews.

The regatta course is situated on the fast-flowing Limmat River, between the bridges Quaibrücke and Rathausbrücke in the centre of Zurich. Rowers will also have to navigate under the tight arches of a bridge at mid-course, and the public will be able to view the racing from the banks of the Limmatquai at no charge.
