The A Finals for the same events will be raced at the end of the day.

Lightweight Women's Single Sculls (LW1x) – B Final

They raced earlier today in the semifinal and their 3 to 6 finish brought them back for the B Final. Led by Evi Geentjens of Belgium, the young sculler in her first year of senior competition improves on her 11th place finish at the Amsterdam Rowing World Cup by winning the B Final and earning a 7th place overall. Behind her Kirsten Jepsen of Denmark paid for her very slow start and could only manage second in a race of catch up.

Lightweight Men’s Single Sculls (LM1x) – B Final

Japan’s Kazushige Ura of Japan was in his country’s priority boat, the lightweight double. Now in the single he must want to prove himself. Ura led the B Final ahead of the very medalled Franco Sancassani of Italy. Sancassani has international medals in the lightweight quad, pair and eight but doesn’t often race in the single. Today he earns an 8th place slot by finishing second in the B Final after a very close race against Ura.

Lightweight Men’s Pair (LM2-) – B Final

Just about everyone gave the lead a go in this very close race. First it was Belgium showing off a fast opening 1000 before dropping back. Then Japan took over. But it was Vincent Faucheux and Damien Margat of France who had the best sprint and managed to just sneak past Japan in the closing metres of the race. Margat and Faucheux won the B Final last year at the World Rowing Championships and did the same position again here in Lucerne today.

Lightweight Men’s Quadruple Sculls (LM4x) – B Final

Not to miss a chance to race hard, two boats, Germany3 and Switzerland’s under 23 boat went head to head for the entire 2000m Rotsee course. Germany had just enough push to remain ahead of Switzerland who must have been using this as a pre-Strathclyde warm-up.
