FISA and the organising committee of the World Cup are closely following the investigations reported by the German health authorities into the current outbreak of E. coli (enterohemorrhagic E. coli – “EHEC” and hemolytic uremic syndrome – “HUS) in Northern Germany.

The latest news from the authorities is that they believe that the source is from sprouts but they have still not ruled out cucumbers, lettuce or tomatoes. Information is reported fully on the website: www.foodsafetynews.com

The farm that is presumed to be the source of the sprouts has been closed and all its related products are being taken off the shelves of supermarkets and restaurants. Testing is currently taking place today, Monday 6 June, in Germany. We expect a clear statement from the authorities during the day on Monday.

More information will be posted on www.worldrowing.com as it evolves on Monday 6 June.

The Samsung World Rowing Cup is due to start 17 June until 19 June 2011.
