The 16th edition of the Youth Coaches Conference will be held from 13 – 16 October 2011 and will be held in honour of American Hart Perry who died recently after spending much of his life dedicated to rowing, especially youth rowing. Perry was part of FISA’s youth commission and helped create the youth coaches conference.
The conference is to be organised by USRowing and the Princeton National Rowing Association, PNRA, which is also credited for hosting the only Rowing World Cup ever the be in the United States – the first Rowing World Cup of 2001. Princeton is also the home of the United States women’s national team and the headquarters of USRowing.
PNRA executive director, Kris Grudt said in USRowing’s press release, “This is a great opportunity to get coaches from around the world together to discuss the development of athletes in a place that has produced world-class athletes. We are especially pleased that this year’s conference will be acknowledging the work of Hart Perry in the global development of youth rowing. Hart was a longtime member of PNRA’s Board of Directors.”
The conference will include themed topics for discussion, international speakers and a guided tour of the region hosting the conference. Each year the conference is held in a different location with the 2010 conference held in Tel Aviv, Israel under the theme, ‘innovative training methods.’
